Faculty Grants Office
Role
The Faculty Grants Office coordinates grant applications
at ELAC, with assistance from appropriate faculty and administrators
at the college. The Office is available to assist faculty and
staff in:
- Researching and identifying government, foundation,
corporation and agency funding sources;
- Developing grant proposals(for
projects—not for individuals);
and
- Actively soliciting grants through various contacts and associations.
Getting
Approval for a Grant
Before approaching a funding source, or requesting
grant funds, you should contact the appropriate administrator
to discuss the project idea. With the help of the Faculty Grants
Director, we will solicit input, assistance and approval of projects—well
in advance of deadlines.
Resource Materials – Guidelines, copies of model proposals,
or research data relevant to the project will be gathered at the
ELAC Foundation or Faculty Grants Office and made available to
ad-hoc groups working on proposals. (There is no standing committee
to review
all grants at ELAC.)
Writing Proposals
The Faculty Grants Office
will guide the principal authors through the writing process,
to ensure that a competitive
proposal is submitted. In some cases (but not all) the Director
will be equipped to provide major portions of text and budget
material for proposals.
