Edison Arts in the Community

Edison Arts in the Community grant funded in 1999 through a proposal written by dance faculty member, Rick Crawford, has provided for refurbishing for the ELAC’s Ingalls Auditorium/ Edison Center for the Performing Arts. This program has brought a range of art performances to our community. The initial grant of over $200,000 refurbished the interior of the auditorium. Additional programming monies from Edison and community partners have helped produce free concerts such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic Neighborhood Concerts, Los Angeles Opera Children’s Concert, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre.

The Arts in the Community Program went into hiatus but Edison International just recently sponsored the return of old friends and alumni, Los Lobos to perform at the center.
