| Milestone, sponsored
by the English Department, has a historical presence on the ELAC
campus. Each year, the journal has solicited material from ELAC
students, who represent the community voices expressing their feelings
and concerns in the form of personal narrative (creative non-fiction),
short stories, and poetry. In 2003 with the College budget shortfall,
the Foundation stepped forward to support the printing and marketing
of the time honored literary publication. The close cooperation
of the Milestone Committee Chair, Carol Lem, graphic designer Patricia
Glover and the Foundation helped produce a version of Milestone
that is unparalleled to past years’ production of the literary
book. The ELAC Art department is also credited for providing beautiful
student art work for the graphics and covers for the 2003 publication.
